Getting started

How do I set a trap?
  1. On Home, tap “Who’s being nosy today?”
  2. Pick the message that pops up when they open it.
  3. Add a reveal: take or choose a photo, use Big Text, or skip it.
  4. Turn on Reaction Capture, choose Photo or Video, then tap “Arm trap”.
  5. Hand your phone over and wait.
How does it work on iPhone Duo?

Fold your iPhone Duo shut to arm the trap. The bait waits on the cover screen, and the trap springs the moment someone unfolds it. If you arm it while unfolded, the app asks you to fold it first.

How do I cancel a trap without springing it?

On the armed cover screen, tap the small dot in the top-right corner, then confirm “Disarm”. Nothing is recorded.

Troubleshooting

No reaction photo or video was captured

Don’t Open needs camera access. Go to iOS Settings → Don’t Open → Camera and turn it on. Also check that Reaction Capture was switched on before you armed the trap.

My reaction video has no sound

Sound needs microphone access. Go to iOS Settings → Don’t Open → Microphone and turn it on. Videos still record without sound if it’s off.

I can’t save share cards to Photos

Go to iOS Settings → Don’t Open → Photos and allow the app to add photos.

Does the person know they’re being recorded?

Yes. As soon as the trap opens, they see a clear “Camera on” or “Recording” badge with a countdown. Don’t Open is for harmless fun between friends, so please only share reactions with permission.

Your catches and privacy

Where are my catches stored?

Only on your device. There are no accounts or servers, and nothing is uploaded. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete catches?

Press and hold a catch in Catches and tap Delete, or go to Settings → Clear catches to remove them all. Settings → Reset app removes everything.

I deleted the app. Can I get my catches back?

Catches only live on your device, so deleting the app removes them, unless they’re in a device backup you restore from. Save the share cards you want to keep to Photos first.
